Often times the presence of a bakery is overlooked as a valuable means of production in a community. Small family run bakeries, such as La Emilita e Hijos produce bread, baked goods and pastries everyday. This bakery not only generates local economy and has proven to stand the test of time; but it plays a key role in the community as locals make daily visits on their commute to work.
The location of La Emilita e Hijos is also noteworthy. It is situated west of Calle de Bravo Murillo, the main street in the district of Valdeacederas. As this is one of the few business located deep in the neighbourhood, it stands out from the crowd bringing a commercial edge into an almost entirely residential area. Introducing more productive businesses into this neighbourhood is the key to the regeneration of Valdeacederas.
